Job Description
Our client, a leading company in the transportation industry, is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Project Planner. As Project Planner, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing project plans, collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring successful project delivery. This is a 6 month, hybrid, contract opportunity with the expectation of being in the Oakland, CA office 2-3 times a week.

Responsibilities
- Develop detailed plans for project activities and deliverables in collaboration with company leaders and third parties.
- Assist the Project Director Manager in producing project control reports, including variation reports on time and budget.
- Represent the company's interests in meetings with customers and subcontractors to address scheduling and project issues.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and schedules.
- Participate in the Change Order Management process.
- Maintain and update the Project Master Schedule using Primavera Project Planner (P6) software, gathering inputs from various groups and subcontractors.
- Provide regular updates on project status and identify critical activities and their impact on the schedule.
- Report project status to stakeholders, including Project Manager, senior management, and clients, proposing recovery plans as needed.
- Assist in Risk Management by identifying schedule-related mitigation and avoidance actions.
- Coordinate and plan project rail access efforts, conducting regular meetings with subcontractors and project representatives.
- Prepare earned value reports and monthly resource planning forecasts.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or Construction Discipline (Equivalent experience considered).
- 2+ years of project management and planning experience.
- Proficiency in using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to understand project dependency logic and critical paths.
- Highly motivated and adaptable to handle time-sensitive situations and workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to have
- 2 years of experience in rail or construction projects.
