Job Description

Our client, a leading company in the transportation industry, is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Project Planner. As Project Planner, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing project plans, collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring successful project delivery. This is a 6 month, hybrid, contract opportunity with the expectation of being in the Oakland, CA office 2-3 times a week.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed plans for project activities and deliverables in collaboration with company leaders and third parties.
  • Assist the Project Director Manager in producing project control reports, including variation reports on time and budget.
  • Represent the company's interests in meetings with customers and subcontractors to address scheduling and project issues.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and schedules.
  • Participate in the Change Order Management process.
  • Maintain and update the Project Master Schedule using Primavera Project Planner (P6) software, gathering inputs from various groups and subcontractors.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and identify critical activities and their impact on the schedule.
  • Report project status to stakeholders, including Project Manager, senior management, and clients, proposing recovery plans as needed.
  • Assist in Risk Management by identifying schedule-related mitigation and avoidance actions.
  • Coordinate and plan project rail access efforts, conducting regular meetings with subcontractors and project representatives.
  • Prepare earned value reports and monthly resource planning forecasts.

Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Discipline (Equivalent experience considered).
  • 2+ years of project management and planning experience.
  • Proficiency in using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand project dependency logic and critical paths.
  • Highly motivated and adaptable to handle time-sensitive situations and workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to have
  • 2 years of experience in rail or construction projects.

Expected hourly pay range
$60 - $75
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
