Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Linux Endpoint Administrator to join their Endpoint Engineering team. This team manages the company s physical and virtual desktops to ensure security, reliability, and consistency at scale. You ll be responsible for deploying and maintaining Linux desktops, automating configurations, and supporting fleet operations across a large environment.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain Linux desktops (physical and virtual).
- Implement and manage SaltStack configurations for system baselines and automation.
- Work on sprint-based engineering projects related to endpoint reliability and compliance.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis across the Linux fleet.
- Run operational tasks like OS/software updates, re-imaging, and repairs.
- Participate in change management and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and IT support to ensure endpoints remain compliant and functional.
- 6+ years supporting large-scale Linux desktop environments.
- Strong experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux (imaging, patching, troubleshooting).
- Proficient with configuration management tools (SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible).
- Skilled in Bash and/or Python scripting for automation.
- Familiar with agile/sprint-based work.
- Experience using Jira for task and incident tracking.
- Clear communicator with strong attention to detail.
- Local to the Bay Area and able to work onsite in Foster City 3 days/week.
- Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
- Familiarity with VMware-based VDI platforms and tools.
